Peninsula Women’s Caucus for Art – Women/Strength – Exhibition, Reception

Women/Strength opens on March 3rd, 2019 at the Twin Pines Art Center. In celebration of Women’s History Month, this exhibition explores the idea of how strength is expressed through the female lens; Strength to endure or withstand, to overcome adversity.  Strength of character, a strong voice, body, scent. The strength of water, or an ocean. Peninsula Women’s Caucus artists Merrie Asimow, Katy Boggs, Lorraine Capparell, Christine Cianci, Lisa Evans, Joyita Ghose, My Xuan Ho, Kristine Idarius, Rebecca Lambing, Tanya Lin, Kerith Lisi, Yvonne Newhouse, Rachel Tirosh, Annette Wagner, Greta Waterman, Emily Wiser, Marian Yap share their impressions on the concept of Women/Strength.

This exhibition is on view March 3rd – 27th at the Twin Pines Art Center

About the Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA)

WCA is a national organization dedicated since its founding in 1972 to supporting women artists, art historians, students, educators, and museum professionals. WCA is committed to recognizing the contribution of women in the arts, providing women with leadership opportunities and professional development, expanding networking and exhibition opportunities for women, supporting local, national, and global art activism, and advocating for equity in the arts for all.  

The Peninsula Chapter of WCA concentrates on providing exhibition opportunities for women artists, sharing resources, and educational networking. Recent shows include the Coastal Arts League Gallery in Half Moon Bay and the Milton Marks Conference Center Galleries in San Francisco.

 

About the Twin Pines Art Center

The Twin Pines Art Center is a coalition of studio artists and three arts organizations: ARTshare of San Mateo County, the Belmont Arts Council, and the Peninsula Museum of Art. ARTshare is the County's Local Arts Partner, dedicated to supporting and strengthening our cultural organizations, improving the quality of life, and promoting our culturally rich community. The Belmont Arts Council's Gallery offers changing exhibitions of work by local artists. The Museum includes the formal Gallery, Museum Store, and Art Reference Library. Twelve rooms on the second floor (and penthouse) provide working studios for visual artists.
