ELIGIBILITY 
Artists who are current members of the Womens Caucus for Art, Peninsula Chapter. Please note, your 2019 membership must be current and will be verified before acceptance into the show.

The Community Gallery gives local arts organizations the opportunity to promote their programs and services. The Community Gallery showcases a wide range of art media and subject matter

This heavily trafficked public space offers several walls—some continuous but most separate—with a self-healing corkboard material.

THEME

My Happy Place

Let’s examine the places that our art is taking us. It can be a color, an experience, an imaginary place, memory of a place, a place in our dreams, or a real place. Create the world you try to enjoy and encourage others to join. This is an invitation to experiment with colors and subject matter to discover your Happy Place.

ENTRIES and submission

All work must be submitted through the online application Entrythingy. Images of your artwork must be uploaded and payments be made through PayPal. Images should be formatted as 1280 x 960 at 300 ppi .jpg preferred. Artists who need help submitting via this method please contact myself or Tanya Lin for help.

You may submit up to 3 pieces. You will be required to provide:

  • Title

  • Artist Name

  • Contact –email address & phone number

  • Medium

  • Size

  • Price

  • Statement about Artwork (optional, 50 words or less)

CATEGORIES ACCEPTED 

Painting, drawing, photo, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art. No giclee prints unless part of mixed media or photography. The venue has state, the gallery serves all of our audiences, including children. Artworks of an inflammatory nature or depicting violence or nudity are, 3d art, performance art, large installation or heavy artwork.

NON-REFUNDABLE ENTRY FEE 

Payment of $30 per entry. An entry consists of one to three submissions of images. A maximum of three images per person is allowed. Credit card payment through Paypal only using Entrythingy. You do not need a Paypal account to pay through Paypal. The curator has the discretion on the final number of entries depending on the response.

INSURANCE & LIABILITY 


The City of Palo Alto, Palo Alto Art Center, Arts and Sciences Division, Community Services Department, accept no responsibility for the preservation, protection, possible damage or theft of any item displayed or exhibited. The City of Palo Alto, Palo Alto Art Center, Arts and Sciences Division, Community Services Department, is not obligated to insure Exhibitor’s artwork or other property. Individual insurance is highly recommended

SALE OF ARTWORK

Selling artworks from the Community Gallery is allowed, but not encouraged. Sales must be handled independently by the exhibitor. After the exhibition, report to the Art Center the number of artworks sold and the final amount of the sales.

No work will be removed until the end of the show.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Only 2D art is acceptable.

Maximum height and Width 3’ ( See limited weight )

Limited weight: Maximum 3lb. Wall-hung work will be installed on self-healing tack board so must be light-weight and hang with push pins only. Examples of acceptable work are matted and unframed work, fiber arts with hanging tabs, or small light weight canvas boards that can be installed with push pins along the top and bottom. Heavy work, frames, and works on paper without mats cannot be installed.

No Glass

If you have a framed work make sure it is Very light Frame. ( See limited weight )

Artworks must arrive 'ready to hang' and be presented professionally. Work must have professionally finished edges all around

Every piece should have a label on the back including the title, artist’s name and phone number or email address.

Upon Check-in/Drop-off, you will be required to sign off for your work, and verify the label to be applied to the back of your work.

Upon Pickup, you will be required to sign off for your work, and verify the label on the back of the work against the tracking list before taking it.

Post cards will be printed and available for U.S. mail and email.
